Throughout the years Boucheron’s iconic Serpent Bohème collection has become quite the classic for the French luxury jewellery house. Dating back to 1968, the motif has taken on a variety of high jewellery materials and precious stones all whilst keeping the historic symbol alive.
Now for the first time in gemstone history, Boucheron introduces a new never-seen-before translucent natural stone, aptly named aquaprase after its stunning aqua-blue hues. Lucky enough to be part of the worldwide launch, Ounass are stocking the full collection of Serpent Bohème aquaprase, set within white gold and diamonds, the new collection is made up of rings, necklaces, earrings and bangles, reimaging a classic that will stand the test of time.
Aquaprase is a form of the chalcedony quartz, excavated in Africa during Yianni Melas’ gem exploration a few years back. The country and area remain a secret to keep the land protected and prevent over-excavation. Its opalescent nature of soft blue-green hues inspired its name: “aqua” for its marine-blue hue and “prase” which means a light green chalcedony colour. It’s not every day that a new gemstone is uncovered — and following Melas’ discovery is Boucheron’s historic addition of this powerful, rare stone to the world of fine jewellery.
