The Definitive Home Of Luxury

This week, we sit down with multi-hyphenate Mohammed Al Hamdan, who opens up on finding inspiration from anywhere and what he wants to be remembered for, in the season’s most iconic new looks.

Tell us about yourself.

I’m Mohammed Al Hamdan, born in Riyadh and currently living in Diriyah. I have a lot of interests, but currently my focus is on music.

Tell us about your selections from the Fall/Winter ’23 collections.

My selection included a full denim look, I feel like having a Canadian tuxedo is a must for the season. A lot of shorts matched with shirts and jackets as well. Since Fall is a season between Summer and Winter, it’s fun to bring summer items and mix them with winter clothes. I also like bags, and brands like Prada and Bottega Veneta have a great selection to choose from.

How would you describe the overall mood or aesthetic of the Fall season this year?

I can say that Fall is a transition season. The weather is mild, and I try to choose transitional outfits. As for my look today, I went for shorts from Prada paired with a long sleeved t-shirt.

In your career as an actor, you often take on diverse roles and perspectives. Do you feel your personal style is a constant, or do you embrace the similar creative freedom that fashion offers?

Recently my style has been pretty constant. I have been liking the idea of having a uniform, it just makes things easy. But I definitely still embrace the freedom of being open to new looks.

Tradition is an essential source of inspiration for you, but it can also be reimagined and reinterpreted. When it comes to your creative outlook, would you describe yourself as nostalgic or a futurist?

I feel like I have passed the idea of nostalgia. I think letting go of it creates room for new thoughts and ideas, and the future feels and seems more bright. It’s inspiring for me to think of the future, the unknown, and possibilities of what it can bring drives me forward.

Social media has played a significant role in amplifying your work into the spotlight. What do you want to be remembered for?

I’d like for my work to speak for me. I am in a space where I can create multiple things, whether it’s music, products, or an expression of my personal style and interests. Social media is a platform where I can share all of that.

What are you most looking forward to when it comes to the future of fashion in Saudi Arabia, and in the region?

I’m looking forward to what is coming from the region’s designers and artists. There is space to be filled with many things, and I feel like this is an exciting time to be here.

What do you do when you need to feel inspired?

When it comes to finding inspiration, I try to distract myself from work. I reach out to my friends, we hang out. I literally get inspired by everything, not related to work.

What piece of style advice would you give?

Everyone should wear what they feel like wearing, and what suits them. Style is a tool, a way to express yourself and show your personality.

What does Dreaming of Reality mean to you?

I love to dream. Dreaming of reality means the memories I have lived, and it's more than a dream. I work hard and put in the right effort to make my dreams come true.
